Determination

The other day, I was half way through a training run and stopped to refuel. 

It was a hot and humid day. Mentally, I wasn’t looking forward to the second half of my run back home.

At the store, I stopped at the water fountain and saw this poster frame on the wall... 



D E T E R M I N A T I O N

 As I stared and thought about what that word meant for me at that moment, it reminded me my "why" and I was determined to finish my training run – stronger.

The word: determination is one of the driving forces that can encourage one to keep moving forward towards their goal. 

It gives strength and an encouragement from within to look towards your goal at the finish - even when you might just be at the start.

Determination means doing whatever it takes to keep moving forward.  Despite whatever obstacle that may be in your way, it’s the drive from within.

For blood cancer patients, determination gives them the drive to simply not give up. 

Blood cancer is unapologetic.  

It takes the people you know to another level.  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is also unapologetic and forging forward in raising money for a cure to stop this horrible cancer. 

Research from LLS and your donation can give patients support; hope; treatment and that extra determination to keep fighting.

My mission is to raise $85,000.00 for LLS.  I invite you to be a part of something incredible; something really amazing. 

With your donation, it gives LLS more determination to finding a cure.  Its also the reason why MILLIONS of LL patients are alive today!

100 Miles, 100 Degrees

I've had people ask what is it like to train in the Texas heat? Some of their comments are: "It's way to hot, the humidity is too high. Isn't summer meant for relaxing?" All true. When the heat combines with humidity, it makes for a very uncomfortable and muggy day. Very tempting to use this as a validation to put things off a bit longer, but great things NEVER come from comfort zones.  The Katy Flatlands century bike ride...a total of 102 miles, was no different. With the weather predicted to 'feel like' 112 degrees, it definitely had some uncomfortable moments, but a great day to train for those lava fields in Kona.  Training has been going well, but I want to encourage you to find what it is that inspires YOU.  Good things take time, but it all begins with that first step, so  seek motivation each day and allow this to drive you towards your goal...and out of your comfort zone.

The Journey - Team In Training

February 14 th - what does this day mean to you?  For many, they  exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine”.  For me, this day,  I received THE BEST surprise….of a lifetime! During my PE class, my husband, daughter and son walked into the gym along my principal and with BillieSue (from the LLS Houston Chapter) to announce that I was chosen to represent the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in its effort to battle Leukemia and other related blood cancers. The 'BIG Reveal' (with BillieSue - LLS Houston Chapter) T he ‘big reveal’ was that I was selected to join the incredible LLS Team In Training (TNT) and race in the IRONMAN World Championship, Kona on October 13, 2018!   This race consist of a total of 140.6 miles – 2.4 mile swim; 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile marathon; all to be completed in 17hours.  Click on my Team In Training Page on the left side of this blog to learn more.  More importantl...
