The Beginning

Dear Friends,

The beginning of our journey begins. :) What better way to take this first blog and introduce myself and my wonderful family to you.

I am originally from a small town of Savannah, Ohio. I have an older sister and younger brother, and my parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past March.

Growing up, my family was always active in a variety of sports.  At one point, my family owned and managed a local baseball field.  This is where I developed my love for sports, and grew up playing competitive softball.  I graduated from a small high school and went on to study at a private college, Ashland University; graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Fast forward a few years and here we are. I’ve lived in Texas for over 20 years and consider this great state my home.

My husband and I have been married 16 years and together we have 2 wonderful children – Angelina and Lyle.  To add to our family, we have some adorable furry pets that we love and they constantly entertain us. We have 1 dog (Tux) and 2 cats (Hope & Daisy).

I’m also a full-time (K-5) Physical Education teacher at Fort Bend ISD. I have a very rewarding  job - I motivate and inspire students to be physically active in the hopes that they will lead a healthy lifestyle. More importantly, I teach students how to play a game or activity that not only engages their minds, but their bodies as well.  I teach students how to treat others with thoughtfulness, respect and fairness. Competition doesn’t have to be a negative thing; it can create a good leader.  :)

When I am not teaching PE, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and competing in IRONMAN Triathlons throughout the year.

I’ve been competing in triathlons for 8 years. What started out as a hobby, quickly became a passion. With the motivation and support from my husband and family, I’ve had the opportunity to complete (3) Full Ironmans; over (12) Half Ironmans and 40 other varying distance triathlons.

I feel incredibly blessed to do what I do each and everyday, and I credit it all to my faith and love for God and believe that all things are possible with Him.

In this blog, I will share stories of my training, of people that influence me along the way.  I also hope that you will be inspired and feel as if you are experiencing this amazing journey and mission with me.

It is because of your help and support that allows me to be able to be on this incredible journey!

From the bottom of my heart,

Thank you!
